Don't forget to value the negative vibes as much as the positive... A lowly state is a boon. Getting it is a nice surprise... And so is losing it!

Donor Rap is a small speech that Phil gives at the end of every show he performs, informing people of the importance of being an Organ Donor!

I caught the free show at Roseland, the remaining members sound TIGHT, people have to realize, IT'S 2009, NOT 1989 OR 1979. Enjoy the positive vibes while you can AND DON'T FORGET.
"IT'S ALL ABOUT HOW THE MUSIC MAKES you FEEL

I thought it was a great set...but I thought Bob's vocals were tool low, or couldn't be heard well up in the nosebleeds, right side of stage. Another thing...what were the damn hangings over the right side of the stage??? They obscured most of the back stage. We couldn't see Kreutzmann at all, barely could see Mickey Hart.

Lackluster first set? Jack Straw didn't snap off the way I like it, but Estimated got things going nicely, and HG>Touch was great. The latter part of Miracle made it my favorite version ever of that tune, which usually doesn't excite me.

After a lackluster first set and some sound issues (Bob's guitar, of all things, drowning out everything else), the band really caught fire in the second. The highlights: a long, trippy "Shakedown Street," an incredibly spastic "Caution," an impressive, intriguing "Drums/Space" that segued into my personal favorite one-two punch of the night: "Cosmic Charlie" > "New Potato Caboose." I've never heard Phil and Bob sing so well, post '70s, and the vocal blend was sweetened with Warren Haynes on top. Haynes also did a fantastic job of checking his usual style at the door, playing more melodically and using more unconventional Garcia-esque phrasing, which makes a lot more sense for the Dead's sound. Overall, a solid performance with a quite a few inspired moments coming after the set break.
